An Alaska Airlines glitch left customers confused. When customers came across a promotional deal from the airline that was sent to them through email on Tuesday, they were surprised when they found that the deal had already expired when they tried to book it.
This problem came a day after another glitch was found on the website. However officials from Alaska Airlines say that the problems have been fixed at this point, according to the Los Angeles Times.
This is the second incident within a few weeks in which a major airline has had website issues and programming errors which have left customers confused.
However in the last incident, customers were able to get away with a major deal that wasn't supposed to happen. At the end of December, Delta Air Lines accidentally sold tickets at extreme discounts due to a computer problem. They were forced to honor the super-cheap tickets.
When customers realized that the discount wasn't working on Tuesday, they took to Twitter and Facebook to complain. The offer was sent through email and said that customers could get a 5 percent discount on airline tickets purchased by Jan. 13. When they went to the website and tried to book the deal, the Alaska Airlines site told traveler that the offer had expired on Monday.
According to airline spokeswoman, Bobby Egan, the issue with the email discount offer was due to a false date that was entered into the airline's booking software. However Egan says the airline will honor the tickets booked for the deal by Jan. 13, the Los Angeles Times reports.
Egan added that a system upgrade earlier caused another glitch in the reservation system.
