Boy Throws Boiling Water on Girl’s Face After Being Unfriended on Facebook

Facebook relationships have been reported repeatedly as risky, as many end up being cyber bullied, others even committing suicide. This time around, one girl in India was thrown boiling water at after unfriending a teenage boy in the social network.

According to a report made by Times of India, the unidentified 15-year old girl suffered serious burns damaging over 20% of her body, including a huge portion of her right cheek. Reports stated that the boy came over to the girl's house, saying that he had left his ID there. He then sneaked into the kitchen, got a pot of boiling wataer and threw it to the 15 year old victim.

The boy allegedly developed strong feelings towards the girl, which she didn't requite. In a translated report made by the Hindustan Times, the victim says, "My father is a teacher and he (the accused) used to come for tuitions to our home. I accepted his (Facebook) friend request a year ago because I found him decent then. But of late he had become abusive and so I unfriended him last week."

Reports stated by Times of India says that the boy has gone into hiding after the incident and that the police have raided his house in Patepur, Vaishali District but the teenager wasn't there. The girl is expected to make a full recovery.

In a report generated by Gawker, it says "with Facebook steadily becoming the exclusive means of communication among teens in India, tragic news stories involving young Indian Facebook users are similarly on the rise."

Just October of last year, a 17-year old Indian girl committed suicide after her parents banned her from using Facebook. Aishwarya S. Dahiwal allegedly had multiple arguments with her parents about her mobile use, especially the amount of time she would spend on the social network.

One night, she went up to her room, penned a suicide note and hung herself. In the note, the teenager repeatedly expressed her contempt against her parents because of not being able to use Facebook.

"Is Facebook so bad? I cannot stay in a home with such restrictions as I can't live without Facebook," the letter wrote.
