Janet Wakelin Murray was diagnosed with an aggressive carcinoma breast cancer 13 years ago. Now, she is healthier more than ever. Janet's doctor was very much surprised because she beat out her death sentence of having only 6 months to live.
According to Raw Can Cure, Janet explains, "I had lived a very healthy lifestyle, being vegetarian for 25 years and vegan for the previous 15 years. I have also been extremely physically active all my life, so I was quite shocked with the diagnosis."
"However, the power of intention is far greater than that of fear and I had every intention of staying around for a long time!" she exclaims.
The 64-year old woman, along with her husband 68-year old Allan Murray went on an all-raw, vegan diet, which consisted of eating a whole lot of bananas every single day. To top it all off, they ran marathons everyday for the entire year 2013. That's 365 days of running and they've just achieved their 367th day on January 2 of the New Year, which they report as a world record.
"We are healthier, more physically fit and have unlimited energy at beyond 60 years of age than in our earlier years," as quoted in the couple's website, RunningRawAroundAustralia.com.
The Australian couple who have been married for over 43 years say that they are motivated to promote respect and compassion for all living beings, endorse healthier life choices and raise awareness for a more sustainable future.
Plant diets are quickly gaining popularity. According to a previous report by Huffington Post, vegetarian diets could make you a lot less stressed and happier. Researchers found that, ""Restricting meat, fish, and poultry improved ... short-term mood state in modern omnivores."
Janet and Allan are not only people over 50 years old who are marathoners. The oldest runner was 93.
