Selena Gomez fans were stunned when the 21-year old star earlier announced that she will be canceling her Australian and Asian tours. Rumored reasons quickly began circulating but the possible real reason left the world in shock.
There were buzz about her still not over Justin Beiber, rendering her incapable of tours while others believed she was suffering from substance abuse. Now, a source who is extremely close to the Wizards of Waverly Place star says that she has lupus.
The 21-year old singer-actress is said to have been battling the disease for years now and that it is now taking a toll on her body, after countless tours, performances and other endeavors. According to a report by Guardian Liberty Voice, the source shares that Selena has been experiencing extreme fatigue caused by her auto-immune illness, which leads to facial swelling, extreme joint pains and headache.
In an exclusive report by Hollywood Life, the source also tells that Selena never wanted her illness to be of public interest or matter. "Selena will not be happy that this is out there, she really wanted to keep this to herself," the source explains and continues, "She doesn't want it to effect people's opinions of her and what she's capable of. This is her own personal business and she wants to keep it that way."
The source went as far as saying that Bieber's ex beau was embarrassed about the disease. "But her family and friends always tell her that they love her just the same," spills the insider.
Gomez has been working non-stop, since she starred as a 9-year old newbie Gianna in Barney and Friends. She went on to have minor tv appearances until she landed bigger stints in Disney hits Suite Life of Zack and Cody, Hannah Montana and later on landed a lead role in Wizards. She has also come up with her top-grossing album Stars Dance.
Reports of her having lupus was neither confirmed nor denied by Selena's camp.
