18-year old Chicago teen Alexis Valdez is currently being held without bail after he decapitated a man during the early morning hours of Christmas.
Alexis Valdez allegedly killed his aunt's boyfriend 41-year old Silvestre Diaz-Hernandez inside a basement apartment in Belmont Gardens where Valdez and his aunt lived.
According to Huffington Post, authorities report that Valdez has been living with his aunt in her house for six months on grounds that he will go to school, work as well as give his share for household costs. Falling short of his aunt's expectations and several arguments about finances, she asked the teenager to move out, which angered Valdez.
While his aunt was in another party, Valdez got drunk with his aunt's boyfriend. When Valdez went with him to a store to get more beer, he hit his aunt's boyfriend on the head multiple times with a hammer that he has hidden, causing a hole in the victim's skull.
He then proceeded to dismember Diaz-Hernandez with a butcher knife, cutting off his mouth, ears, nose and arms. Authorities also report that Valdez pulled out Diaz-Hernandez's eyes with his bare hands.
Afterwards, he cut off the victim's head and left it on top of his aunt's bed because "he wanted to 'leave his aunt a present'," Assistant State's Attorney Kingsley Sawyer says. He called 911 after the murder, reporting that a man was dead in their apartment. The operator shares that when asked if he tried CPR, Valdez laughed and said that the body didn't have a head.
When authorities got to the scene, they found Valdez bathed in blood and quickly admitting to the slaying of his aunt's boyfriend. He allegedly made a statement, saying, "If his aunt had come home, and seen the victim's body, then he would have killed her as well," Sawyer recalls.
