There are thousands of restaurants around the country but some are better than others. Being that dining out is a popular thing to do for travelers, OpenTable, the world's leading provider of online restaurant reservations, released its list of the Top 100 Best Restaurants in America.
The 2013 Diners' Choice Award winners for the Top 100 Best Restaurants in America were decided based on five million restaurant reviews submitted by diners for about 19,000 restaurants in every state. The reviews were collected over the course of a year.
As a highlight, here are the Top 10 Best Restaurants in America, in rank order:

- Mama's Fish House - Paia, Hawaii
- n/naka - Los Angeles, California
- Halls Chophouse - Charleston, South Carolina
- Charleston - Baltimore, Maryland
- o ya - Boston, Massachusetts
- Orchids at Palm Court - Cincinnati, Ohio
- Fearrington House Restaurant - Pittsboro, North Carolina
- The French Laundry - Yountville, California
- goosefoot - Chicago, Illinois
Each of the top 10 creates a one-of-a-kind dining adventure and offer various cuisines. Out of the complete list of the top 100, most of the restaurants are found in 30 states. California has the most top restaurants with 14 and New York has 13. Illinois has seven and New Jersey and Pennsylvania have five. Arizona, Georgia, North Carolina, Ohio, South Carolina, Texas, and Virginia claim four winners apiece, while Washington, D.C., and Oregon have three. Colorado, Hawaii, Louisiana, Massachusetts, and Nevada have two. Alabama, Florida, Kansas, Maryland, Maine, Minnesota, Missouri, New Mexico, Rhode Island, Tennessee, Washington, and Wisconsin also have winning eateries.
Most of the restaurants serve American fare but there is also a big selection of restaurants which serve French, English, Indian, Korean, Spanish, and Thai food.
"These winning restaurants are conducted like great orchestras," said Caroline Potter, OpenTable Chief Dining Officer. "All the players, from chefs and managers to wait staff and sommeliers, have artfully mastered their parts, and every instrument of hospitality, whether it be deft service or imaginative menus, is in harmony with one another to create a symphonic dining experience."
