Michael Vick broke both of his legs in a car accident. At least that's what the Internet is saying. However the Philadelphia Eagles quarterback didn't break his legs because he was never in a car accident. Michael Vick is the victim of an Internet hoax and now he has responded to the rumors to prove that he is okay.
A report came out this week by Global Associated News, which read:
"A spokesperson for the Philadelphia highway safety authority (HSA) has confirmed that Michael Vick has broken both of his legs in a traffic altercation. He has been transported via ambulance to a local Philadelphia hospital for treatment, and the full extent of his injuries are not known at this time, however, both of his legs were visibly broken and not life threatening according to sources.
The accident involved a 2012 BMW driven by Michael Vick and a 76 year old female driver in a 2010 Audi. The driver of the Audi was issued a citation for failing to stop at a red light before striking the vehicle driven by Michael Vick at a high rate of speed. Team spokespersons could not be reached for comment at this time."
Since there are so many details to the story, it is easy to believe that it's real, but Global Associated News creates fake reports using a generator.
A message at the bottom of the site reads: "FAKE... THIS STORY IS 100% FAKE! this is an entertainment website, and this is a totally fake article based on zero truth and is a complete work of fiction for entertainment purposes! this story was dynamically generated using a generic 'template' and is not factual. Any reference to specific individuals has been 100% fabricated by web site visitors who have created fake stories by entering a name into a blank 'non-specific' template for the purpose of entertainment."
Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo, Denver Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning and Carolina Panther's quarterback Cam Newton became the victim of the same exact hoax over the past few months.
Vick did not get in a car accident and he did not break both of his legs. He spoke out several times on Twitter this week to shoot down the hoax. "I don't know where these rumors start but I'm doing great. No accident or broken legs. Thanks for the concerns! #BleedGreen #Blessed," he wrote on December 2nd.
The same exact hoax was going around in August as well, which Vick also noted "Yea! I heard it a few months ago too. Smh! Crazy RT @GrezyBong: @BrandonBoykin2 @MikeVick wasn't it the same rumor last year?"
Even celebrities heard about the rumor and fell for it, like 2 Chainz. Vick also responded to him saying, "I'm good 2...... Crazy rumors #Salute RT @2chainz: Prayers go out to Mike Vick."
