Fred. Olsen Cruises Offers Money Back Guarantee to Unsatisfied Customers

Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines has followed in the footsteps of Carnival Cruise Lines by offering a money back guarantee to passengers who aren't satisfied with their cruise.

With its "Fred.'s Enjoyment Promise" program, beginning on December 2nd, passengers who have never cruised with the line before can try a cruise and if they don't like it within 48 hours, Fred. Olsen flies them back home and gives them a full refund on the cruise fare, Cruise Critic reports.

This comes after Carnival Cruise Line launched its Great Vacation Guarantee program. Carnival's program only lasts up to 24 hours of the cruise. Some have used this offer. About 17 people have gotten the refund but in most cases it was because of a family emergency.

"'Fred.'s Enjoyment Promise' demonstrates the confidence that we have in our cruise holiday offering, and we hope that this confidence will encourage the millions of holiday-makers in the UK to give cruising a try with Fred. Olsen for the first time," Nathan Philpot, Sales and Marketing Director for Fred. Olsen told Cruise Critic.

"We know chances are they will fall in love with the destinations that we get closer to, the friendliness, great value and warm welcome that we provide on board. But if they don't, we promise to drop them off at the next port, fly them back to the UK and give them 100% of their cruise fare back."

The Enjoyment Promise program is good for bookings made between December 2nd and February 28, 2014 for departures more than 14 weeks away. It doesn't apply to cruises that are six nights long or less, or to cruises that last more than 35 nights.

If a passenger decides that they're not satisfied with the cruise within the first 48 hours, they can alert Guest Relations. The cruise line will arrange and cover the costs for a flight back to the UK and will refund the full cost of the cruise.

The line is launching this program to try to get more people to start cruising and to stop believing misconceptions about the travel method.

"We need to get people more people on board to show them that these barriers are not real," Philpot said.
