It was just less than a year ago that Royal Caribbean introduced its alcohol-inclusive beverage packages. Now they're expanding on the program.
There are now four different alcohol packages on all Royal Caribbean sailings around North America that are four nights or longer. By mid-December all cruises from international ports will also have the new packages, Cruise Critic reports.
The cruise line has made some changes to its alcohol package policy. Previously, all passenger in a cabin were required to buy a drink package even if only one person claimed to want it to prevent sharing. Now only passengers who want to use a package need to purchase one.
Passengers who buy packages are limited to only order one drink at a time, but there is no limit to how many drinks they can purchase throughout the day.
The alcohol packages range in prices from $20 to $65 per passenger per day and all packages include a 15 percent gratuity charge. A package must be bought at least four days before the cruise ends.
Among those packages are the Royal Replenish package for $20 a day which includes premium coffee and tea, bottled still and sparkling water, fresh-squeezed orange juice, nonalcoholic cocktails and fountain sodas with a souvenir Coca-Cola cup, which is ideal for children. The Select Package for $40 a day includes beer, wine by the glass (up to $8 value), nonalcoholic cocktails, fountain sodas with a souvenir Coca-Cola cup and a 20 percent discount on wine bottle purchases.
The Premium Package includes house and premium cocktails (up to $10 value), frozen cocktails, beers, premium wine by the glass (up to $12 value), nonalcoholic cocktails, bottled still water, fountain sodas with a souvenir Coca-Cola cup and a 20 percent discount on wine bottle purchases for $55 a day. The Ultimate Package includes premium coffee and tea, bottled still and sparkling water, fresh-squeezed orange juice, house and premium cocktails (up to $10 value), frozen cocktails, beers, premium wine by the glass (up to $12 value), nonalcoholic cocktails, fountain sodas with a souvenir Coca-Cola cup and a 20 percent discount on wine bottle purchases for $65 per day.
Due to the change, passengers who already paid for the old Classic Package will receive the Select package instead and will get a $5 refund per day to their account. Those who paid for the former Premium package will get the new Premium package instead.
