Anchorman is about a 1970's news team which reacts to a new female reporter that aims to take the anchor chair. The exhibit explores the reality behind the humor of "Anchorman," and tells the story of the challenges women faced when they arrived in newsrooms.
The exhibit also features interviews from real 1970s new anchors like Connie Chung, Maury Povich and Melba Tolliver and news executive Al Primo, who brought female reporters to Eyewitness News. There will also be 1970s commercials and photos of popular 1970s news teams.
For the arrival of the Anchorman sequel, the Newseum will host two events featuring stars from the "Anchorman" films. Will Ferrell will be at the Newseum for an invitation-only event on Dec. 3 to talk about the sequel. On Dec. 17, actor David Koechner, who stars as Champ Kind in both "Anchorman" movies, will make a special appearance at an advance screening of the new movie. The tickets to the screening are sold out, however costumes and props from the sequel will also be unveiled on that day.
Visitors can participate in the Be a TV Reporter experience which replicates the Channel 4 newsroom and allows guests to act as a reporter or take photos behind the desk.
The Anchorman exhibit will be on display until Aug. 31, 2014.
