Several rowdy Russian soccer fans caused a flight to be diverted on Tuesday.
An easyJet flight from Moscow to Manchester had to be diverted to Denmark due to the drunken CSKA Moscow fans. The flight landed at Copenhagen Airport at 3:15 p.m. because a CSKA Moscow fan allegedly became too drunk and started pushing the staff on board. Police were called and they met the jet when it landed so the passenger could be taken away, Manchester Evening News reports.
However the drunk man wasn't the only one ejected from the flight. Before the plane was set to take off again, it was delayed as the man's friends were complaining about the way the other fan was treated. They were also kicked off the flight. Half a dozen people were thrown off the flight.
The incident delayed the flight for the remaining 146 passenger for over an hour.
An easyJet spokesman confirmed the incident saying, "easyJet can confirm that flight EZY1872 flying from Moscow Domodedovo to Manchester on November 3 diverted to Copenhagen airport due to the disruptive behaviour of a passenger on board. One passenger was immediately offloaded on arrival. Unfortunately, prior to take off, it was necessary for the captain to take the decision to offload a further six passengers.
"The aircraft then continued towards Manchester where it landed with a short delay," the spokesman added. "The safety and welfare of its passengers and crew is easyJey's highest priority and easJet would like to thank the passengers for their understanding and apologise for any inconvenience caused."
All six of the fans that were booted off reportedly booked new flights to Manchester to try to make it in time for the match against Manchester at Etihad Stadium.
