Snake on a Plane: Passenger Arrested For Bringing Animal on easyJet Flight

Is that a snake on a plane? It sure was. Police were called to meet a plane that arrived in Britain after it was discovered that a passenger had brought a snake on board.

The passenger had brought the reptile on board and kept it in a cardboard box on an easyJet flight from Israel to Luton Airport, the Telegraph reports.

The crew learned that the snake was on board during the flight and they alerted police in Bedfordshire. The snake is believed to be a corn snake.
Some passengers took to Twitter to explain the ordeal. Many were shocked by the surprise passenger.

"My plane is being met by police because someone brought a snake on board and whipped it out mid flight. Never a dull moment with easyJet," Hugo Allon wrote.
"Snake on the plane - not your classic Tel Aviv to Luton flight!,"Danielle Stone wrote. Another replied saying "Where was Sam L. Jackson when you need him?"

"No Samuel L, but an actual snake on a plane. Police about to meet @easyJetarriving from Tel Aviv to Luton," Rafi Addleston tweeted.

Michael Harris, wrote, "Just landed at @LDNLutonAirport with @easyJet ... Police about to board to arrest guy who brought on a ... snake ... on the plane!"

Passengers wondered how the man was able to get the snake past airport security to bring it onto the plane. "I thought Israeli airport security was the best in the world... So how the hell did someone manage to sneak a SNAKE onto the plane???," another user wrote.

An easyJet spokeswoman confirmed the incident but said it wasn't as dramatic as the scenes in the 2006 film, "Snakes on a Plane."

"The snake was kept in a small takeaway box throughout the flight," the spokeswoman told the Telegraph. The non-poisonous snake remained in its container at all times and passengers were not in any danger. We have raised the issue with the airport to understand why the animal was not detected during security. The safety of passengers is always our highest priority."
