Looking for a cheap flight? Act quick! Southwest is having a 72-hour sale with flight prices between $49 and $149 each way, depending on the flight distance.
On Tuesday, October 8, Southwest launched a 72-hour sale which sparked some other airline to follow suit. Southwest's sale applies to certain routes depending on the distance. Shorter flights cost less while the flights get more expensive depending on the length of the route. However no matter how short or long the route is, those who want to snag a deal should act fast as the deal only continues through the end of the day on Thursday, Oct. 10. The sales are also applied to Southwest subsidiary, AirTran. Here is a rundown of the sale prices.
$49 each way (500 miles or less)
$99 each way (501 to 1,000 miles)
$129 each way (1,001 to 1,500 miles)
$149 each way (More than 1,501 miles)
With deals like this, some round trip fares cost just under $100 on Southwest and AirTran flights. For instance, some $100 round-trip routes include Akron-Chicago; Atlanta-Orlando; Austin-New Orleans; Baltimore-Boston; Charlotte-Orlando; Chicago-Minneapolis; Denver-Salt Lake City; Houston-Dallas; Las Vegas-San Diego; Los Angeles-San Francisco; St. Louis-Atlanta and Wichita-Dallas, USA Today reports.
With Southwest being a trendsetter when it comes to deals, competitors wanted to jump on board and also dropped their prices on similar routes. For instance, JetBlue dropped their Baltimore-Boston route to $98, Delta and United dropped their Los Angeles-San Francisco route to $98, Frontier and Delta put a $98 price tag on their Denver-Salt Lake City route and a trip from Atlanta to Orlando also only costs $98 on Delta.
The only better deal is an $88 round trip fare for Spirit Airline flights between Chicago and Minneapolis/St. Paul.
Southwest's sale includes flights only between the dates of Dec. 4 through Dec. 18 and from Jan. 7 through Feb. 12. Even though the sale doesn't end until Thursday, some routes may sell out more quickly than others and the deal will no longer apply. The sale also excludes the popular flying days of Friday and Sunday.
Customers have until 11:59 p.m. to take a chance snagging one of these flight deals.
