Young Boy Sneaks Past Minneapolis Airport Security & Boards Flight to Las Vegas

A 9-year-old boy was able to sneak past airport security and get on a flight from Minneapolis to Las Vegas without having a boarding pass.

Security has gotten tighter but the young boy was able to go through the checkpoint at Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport without a guardian and without any problems, the New York Daily News reports.

No one seemed to have noticed anything peculiar until Delta flight 1651 which he boarded was about the land. The flight crew grew suspicious and alerted authorities in Las Vegas. When the flight landed, officers from the Las Vegas Police Department greeted the boy and put him in the custody of child protective services.

Surveillance video shows the boy arrive at the airport by himself at 10:37 a.m. on a southbound light-rail car. He was then screened at Terminal 1 and was given access to nine different airlines even though he never had a ticket. He also didn't need to show identification as it is not required for children.

It is believed that the boy snuck in with another family. The boy seems to be from the Minneapolis area and it is believed he was running away. The train that he used stops at places in downtown Minneapolis and the Mall of America.

In another strange twist, this may not have been the boy's first trip to the airport this week. Security footage shows the boy eating at an airport restaurant on Wednesday while carrying a piece of luggage that wasn't his. The child stole a piece of luggage from the baggage claim and took it to the restaurant where he had lunch and he even asked a server to watch his suitcase as he used the restroom. The server was busy watching the suitcase while the boy took the opportunity to run off and avoid paying his bill.

There were no missing child reports filed during the week according to the Minneapolis police department. They were only notified about the incident by Las Vegas police.
