Like beer? Well today is your day. Saturday, September 28 is National Drink Beer Day.
Although beer drinkers might celebrate National Drink Beer Day on multiple days a year, September 28th is the official holiday for beer drinkers, aside from Oktoberfest and the Super Bowl and St. Patrick's Day.
The holiday is so official that is has its own Facebook page, which says "Celebrated every year on September 28, this day is dedicated to the celebration of drinking your favorite beer. Beer, or Ale, as it's more commonly known in many countries is one of the oldest man made drinks on the planet."
There's also an official website, but that doesn't offer any more information as the website creator seems to have gotten drunk. The only thing on the site is a message that reads, "I meant to make a website here ... Instead I've gone and had a beer."
There don't seem to be any national beer special going on but if you want to celebrate, head to your local pub and see if they're offering free brews or at least discounts. If anything, you'll bay five bucks and get to celebrate anyway. Or you could always pick up a six pack and celebrate at home if that's more your style.
If you can't celebrate today, there's also National Beer Day on April 7th. On that day, President Franklin Roosevelt took the first step toward ending Prohibition and signed a law that allowed people to brew and sell beer as long as it remained below 4.0% alcohol by volume in 1933.
Some states drink more beer than other. According to a recent survey by the Beer Institute, those in North Dakota drink the most beer, followed by New Hampshire and Montana. The least beer is consumed in Utah, followed by Connecticut and New Jersey.
