A resort hotel has in Abu Dhabi has been built with a unique amenity that guests will not be used to seeing in a hotel - a racetrack, according to ABC News.
The resort has all the normal amenities: bathrobe, slippers, 24-hour room service, etc., but it also has a F1 racetrack built underneath the hotel. The designers of the racetrack were looking to build a marquee resort to host the racing fans, they decided to actually build the resort on top of the track.
"It's exhilarating," Julie Audette, the manager of public relations at the Yas Viceroy, the resort hotel built on the racetrack, said to ABC News. "We're at the epicenter.
"We're the only hotel in the world built on a racetrack," she continued.
The hotel itself is relatively normal, with pastel whites that are common in Gulf resort hotels and the curves and corners that go so well with a racetrack theme. The hotel has computer consoles built into curved walls, which does give it a futuristic feel that ABC describes as "Star Trekkian - like walking through the halls of the Starship Enterprise."
These designs give the hotel a modern feel while still leaving a racetrack theme for guests to enjoy.
The hotel has rooms available that have views directly over the racetrack. During race weekends, the sound of the engines can be heard throughout the resort property. The design of the hotel makes it the only place in the world where guests can watch the beginning of a race while eating breakfast and be finished and able to get to the track level before the race finishes.
Jay-Z and Depeche Mode have been confirmed to play concerts at the racetrack in October. Beyoncé and Eminem have previously performed.
In addition to the racetrack, there are other high-adrenaline experiences that draw tourists that may not be looking to watch car racing. They cater to tourists who actually want to race cars.
Ferrari World opened in Abu Dhabi in 2010. It's approximately 200,000 square meters and thought to be the largest indoor theme park in the world. One of the attractions is Formula Rossa, the fastest roller coaster in the world. It takes riders from zero to 62 mph in less than two seconds, giving it a 4.8 G-Force rating.
