Bus Stop Dancer: British Woman Caught Dancing on Sidewalk Gets Stage Gig [VIDEO]

A bus stop dancer has landed a job because of viral video. Secretary Ellie Cole became a hit when millions watched a YouTube video of her dancing while waiting for the bus after work.

A video called "Eastleigh's Got Talent" spread online, the Telegraph reports. The video shows Cole dancing to the soundtrack of Abba's Dancing Queen. Cole taps her toes, wiggles her hips, waves her fingers and punches as people walk by. The video lasts for about three minutes until Cole gets on the bus/

The three minute video landed her a part in the performance of play AH Men at The Point Theatre in Eastleigh. The writer of the play happened to be one of the ones who saw the video.

Lynne Paris, writer and director of the show, said she was trying to find local performers and she came across Cole's video by chance.

"My son saw the video and he said 'you've got to see this mum, she's just like you'. Wherever I am, if there's music I find myself jigging along to it," Paris told the Telegraph. "I think anybody who likes music could identify with it."

The part is Cole's lucky break. The woman had studied performing arts for a year at Eastleigh College, but she had to drop out after she lost her job and couldn't afford to finish school.

"I'm just a normal everyday person who happens to like dancing at bus stops. Still to this day I find it hard to believe what happened with the video," Cole said. "It's like 'wow, why me?'."

Cole says the play will give her a chance to fulfill her stage dreams. "It's very flattering and humbling. There's no doubt it's very exciting."

Cole will be a part of the chorus line in the first act. It is a club scene in which she'll perform a group singing and dancing number. Cole also got to perform in an extract from the show as the finale to the Eastleigh Mardi Gras procession on Saturday. Dancing Queen was played at the end in a tribute to the video.

Cole revealed that she was actually listening to Alesha Dixon's hit "Knock Down." The video was first uploaded in April. "I have my headphones in every day on the way back from work and I just can't help myself - I just dance."

The video was filmed by Jane Rowland from a café across the street. "She is an inspiration to us all and has cheered everyone up," Rowland said.
