Swedish Food Truck Sells Airport Food Around Stockholm

A Swedish airport thinks their airport food is so good, that they're taking it to the streets in a food truck. Stockholm Arlanda Airport will be selling its food around different places in Stockholm.

With this special marketing campaign, people around Stockholm will be able to get a taste of the food from the airport's different restaurants without going to the airport. The airport has seen a large expansion in its range of food and the truck will give people the opportunity to taste the variety, the website says.

The food from the truck is made by restaurants at Stockholm Arlanda. The food is prepared in the food truck, which is staffed by two to three people. Among the menu items are ramen soup with wasabi-marinated smoked salmon, truffle risotto, lasagna, pulled pork and braised veal. The price is the same for all the dishes, SEK 65 or about $10. The truck will only be serving lunch at this time.

"It is an unusual and exciting way to market Stockholm Arlanda. We want to give everyone a chance to eat the good food here, and we hope and believe that many people will be surprised. Above all, we hope we can inspire more people to get to the airport well in advance to discover the broad array of food on offer," says Michael Persson Gripkow, chief commercial and marketing officer at Swedavia

The campaign is going by the name Arlanda Food Trucks. Through a special campaign website, people can follow the food truck to see where it will stop next.

The food truck will stop around Stockholm for several weeks. If the project is successful, the truck may made additional rounds.

"There are almost fifty restaurants, cafés and bars at Stockholm Arlanda, but many travellers do not take the time to discover what is available. There are many delicious and innovative dishes today that are far from what we are used to at airports. The airport has become an important part of the whole travel experience, and the selection of food, beverages, shopping and experiences should be inspiring and meet our passengers' needs," says Roel Huinink, managing director of ASDC, Arlanda Schiphol Development Company, which develops shops, restaurants and other commercial services at Stockholm Arlanda.
