As if! Simply put, the TSA does not allow stun guns on planes, no matter what color it is. A woman learned that the hard way when she was stopped by Transportation Security Administration officers for trying to sneak a pink stun gun past the Baltimore-Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport checkpoint, the agency says.
The woman with the cute weapon was about to board a flight to Puerto Rico on Monday morning, but a TSA stopped her when he spotted the weapon on an X-ray machine at the security checkpoint. The women was not only carrying a bright pink stun gun, but she also had a small pocket knife in her carry-on luggage, NBC reports.
After finding the weapon, the TSA contacted the Maryland Transportation Authority Police. The woman was cited on state weapons charges by the police but she was allowed to catch her flight. She just wasn't allowed to take her weapons with her. It is not clear why the woman was carrying the weapons.
To prevent such incidents from happening, the TSA urges passengers not to bring illegal or prohibited items in their carry-ons. Passengers are also urged to check their bags thoroughly before coming to the airport so they don't accidentally bring an illegal item.
A list of banned items is provided on the TSA website. The site has a "Can I bring my ____?" tool which allows travelers to find out if a certain item can be brought on a flight in a carry-on bag or checked bag. The tool is also available through an app.
The TSA has highlighted many of the items that it has confiscated by posting photos of them to their Instagram account. Through the account, the agency hopes passengers will get a better idea of what not to bring.
