TSA Agent Arrested After Quitting Job & Making Threats Against LAX

A TSA agent was arrested after he quit his job and went on to make threats against Los Angeles International Airport in relation to the 12th anniversary of September 11th. The man called airport officials and told them to evacuate the airport terminals.

Parts of LAX were cleared and searched on Tuesday night, but there was nothing found after the threats. The incident did not cause a major disruption to flights, the Associated Press reports.

Nna Alpha Onuoha, 29, was a former TSA agent who was later arrested on Tuesday night for reportedly making the threats.

The man, originally from Nigeria, worked for the Transportation Security
Administration since 2006. He was recently suspended. On Tuesday, he showed up at the airport, resigned from his job and left behind a package at TSA's airport headquarters that was addressed to another TSA agent.

The package was searched but there were no explosives or harmful contents found in the package. However they did find an eight-page letter in which Onuoha wrote about his hatred for the U.S. and he refered to the incident that lead to his suspension. It is not clear why he was suspended initially.

The Associated Press reached out to the TSA, but they have not released any comments about the incident. It is not clear if Onuoha has a lawyer.

The TSA received two phone calls later on Tuesday from a man believed to be Onuoha. He told the TSA that certain terminals should be evacuated. During one of the call, the man said he would be watching the terminal to see if it was actually evacuated.

Officials did not find any strange materials in Onuoha's apartment near the airport. However they did find a note with unspecified threats that cited the September 11th anniversary. There are no other details about the letter.

The man was arrested in Riverside, about 65 miles from the airport. His minivan was parked in a church parking lot. The lot was cleared and a bomb squad robot conducted a search in and around the vehicle. There were no dangerous materials found.
