Frank Iero is dead. At least that's what the Internet is saying. However the former My Chemical Romance guitarist didn't die. He's just the victim of an Internet death hoax. Frank Iero is just fine.
A report surfaced this week saying that Iero died in a snowboarding accident. Global Associated News reported "Actor Frank Iero is reported to have died shortly after a snowboard accident earlier today - September 9, 2013. The actor & novice snowboarder was vacationing at the Zermatt ski resort in Zermatt, Switzerland with family and friends. Witnesses indicate that Frank Iero lost control of his snowboard and struck a tree at a high rate of speed.
Frank Iero was air lifted by ski patrol teams to a local hospital, however, it is believed that the actor died instantly from the impact of the crash. The actor was wearing a helmet at the time of the accident and drugs and alcohol do not appear to have played any part in his death."
Since there are so many details to the story, it might be easy to believe that it's real. However the report is false. Global Associated News is a generator that is used to create fake news reports.
A message at the bottom of the site reads: "FAKE... THIS STORY IS 100% FAKE! this is an entertainment website, and this is a totally fake article based on zero truth and is a complete work of fiction for entertainment purposes!"
If that wasn't enough proof, the article also refers to Iero as an actor, but he is a musician.
Iero isn't dead. After the split of My Chemical Romance, he has been working on a solo career. He released a new solo track in August and has been making solo appearances.
