A traveler was very upset when she reportedly got called an idiot while on an Air India flight.
According to the Times of India, a woman, whose identity has not been revealed, was on a recent flight from London to Mumbai when a strange incident occurred. She was trying to watch a movie about five hours into a flight, but the entertainment unit wouldn't work in her favor.
She tried to adjust the buttons and switches but nothing happened. As she continued, a pretty rude message popped up on the screen.
On the top, the message read "The selection is no currently available. Please try again." However, as she read further, a message on the bottom of the screen read, "Lie low ... Sit down you idiot!".
The passenger brought the incident up to the cabin crew and took a photo of the screen, which kept going blank. She received an apology from an airline employee.
The reason why the message popped up is not clear. Some airlines sources believe it was a joke carried out by a disgruntled employee, but others say it was purely a coincidence.
According to an Air India spokesperson, the incident is being investigated but it seems to be nothing more than a coincidence.
"Our investigation indicates that it was the English subtitle of a Hindi movie that the lady passenger was watching, which froze on the screen when the server went offline. The matter has been taken up with the concerned authorities for rectification".
However the woman who received the message said this wasn't the case and the explanation doesn't make sense as the message at the top and bottom of the screen were both in the same font, meaning the bottom message wasn't part of a movie.
