McDonald's Wings To Hit Restaurants in September For Limited Time

McDonald's wings are about to steal the competition. Business experts are warning competitors that Mighty Wings might be exactly what McDonald's needs to get customers in their stores, according to Mark Brandau of Nation's Restaurant News.

McDonald's Mighty Wings will hit stores nationally on September 9. The product was already tested in Atlanta and Chicago in January 2013 and it did exceptionally well.

"We view the introduction of Mighty Wings as a meaningful catalyst for comps," Lynne Collier of Sterne Agee said according to NRN. "Based on our channel checks, we believe that Mighty Wings performed very well in test and drove the average check."

They'll be available system wide by September 24, but customers will have to get their hands on them quick as the miniature chicken wings or drums that are lightly breaded and fried will only be available until November.

The winds will come in orders of three, five and 10, starting at $2.99. When they were on sale in Chicago, the three-, five- and 10-piece orders sold for $2.99, $4.79 and $8.99, respectively and an extra value meal with five Mighty Wings went for $6.99.

According to Scott Hume of Burger Business, fast food restaurants have become more competitive, but Mighty Wings are on a whole other level.
" Anyone can do nuggets or tenders and almost all burger chains do, but Mighty Wings are different because they're bone-in chicken," Hume told Business Insider. "They're also tougher to source in large numbers but McDonald's has the clout to do it."

Wendy's and Burger King have both come out with new products lately. Wendy's offers a burger on a pretzel bun with cheddar sauce and Burger King has a french fry burger which is a regular burger topped with four fries.

McDonald's Mighty Wings will also bring competition to chick fast food restaurants like Popeye's, Chick-Fil-A, and KFC. However they won't be a threat to traditional wing chains like Buffalo Wild Wings as their customers want to drink beer and watch sports while eating.
