iPhone 6 Release Date: New Apple Phone May Come in Gold

With the suspected iPhone 6 release date being September 10, more and more rumors about the new iPhone are coming out and this time, techies are saying that the new iPhone, either the iPhone 5S or iPhone 6, will come in gold and champagne.

According to Techcrunch columnist MG Siegler, multiple sources have told him that the new iPhone will be gold. Currently, the iPhone only comes in black and white, or "slate" and "silver," as the company calls them.

Rumors of a gold iPhone have been swirling since May when leaded parts of the new iPhone were revealed, showing a completely different looking iPhone than the current model. Those parts included a loud-speaker bracket, ear speaker bracket, vibrating motor assembly, Wi-Fi flex cable ribbon and SIM card tray, which were all silver and gold.

Siegler was against the idea of the iPhone possibly coming out in gold, but some sources say it would make sense for the company to release a gold iPhone. According to iMore, a gold iPhone is much simpler to make than a black iPhone because it is an easier color to anodize.

Siegler says the iPhone wouldn't be a flashy, tacky gold color. He says think "less "gold" and more "champagne". The gold color would be more subtle.

This isn't the first time Apple released a gold product. The company released a gold iPod mini, but this item didn't last long because it is suspected that it wasn't very popular.

It is not clear if the new iPhone will be called the iPhone 5S, the iPhone 6, the iPhone 5C or some other name. Among some other rumors for the new iPhone is that it may include a slow-motion camera and a fingerprint sensor. It will also operate on the iOS 7 operating system.
