Disney Cruise Line is making their ships less friendly for smokers. In an attempt to narrow options for smokers, the cruise line will no longer allow passengers to smoke outdoors on cabin balconies.
Disney Cruise Line will prohibit cigarettes, cigars and other smoking products on balconies as of November 15. Any passengers that violate the rule will face a fine of $250, USA Today reports.
Smoking has never been allowed inside interior cabins but the cruise line is now taking it even further. In addition to banning smoking on balconies and inside interior cabins, smoking is not allowed in all of the interior spaces of Disney's four cruise ships.
Starting November 15, smokers will only be allowed to smoke on select outdoor spots on decks 4,9 and 10 of the Disney Magic and Disney Wonder cruise ships. They'll only be allowed to smoke in outdoor locations on decks 4, 12 and 13 of Disney Dream and Disney Fantasy.
The $250 fine that will be charged to customers caught smoking on balconies will cover the cost of balcony cleaning and maintenance according to the cruise line.
Disney Cruise Line isn't the only one that has banned smoking on balconies lately. Celebrity, Princess, Oceania and Crystal cruise lines have all banned lighting up on the balcony. Cunard and P&O also recently introduced the ban on smoking on balconies. Carnival, Norwegian and Royal Caribbean still allow passengers to smoke on balconies.
