A new hotel in Majorca, Spain, has been anointed the first Twitter hotel, according to the Daily News.
The Sol Wave Hotel has Twitter-themed rooms decorated in white and blue, the color scheme of the social networking site. Guests can check-in and get information and deals using dedicated hash tags.
The Twitter theme carries over to Twitter-themed parties and drinks, among them a drink called the Blue mojito.
The hotel offers a Twitter app that guests are given access to on the hotel's Wi-Fi. This allows guests at Sol Wave to tweet each other, send messages and share photographs. They can do this using the hash tag #SocialWave.
Additionally, the hotel has two Concierges that greet guests through Twitter. Twitter can also be used to request the minibar be refilled.
Guests staying in the hotel's Twitter suites get a discount of 20 percent on all bars, restaurants, hammocks and customized mini bars. Suites also come with champagne, blue balloons and liquorice shaped like hash tag symbols.
The hotel's bar takes drink orders over Twitter as well.
"The hotel takes a new step in meeting the expectations of an increasingly experiential and social customer profile through new technologies," Gonzalo Echevarria, the General Manager of the hotel, said.
Sol Wave House opened on Magaluf Beach in Majorca a year ago. With the Twitter theme, it has launched a virtual community.
The community is fun and interactive, an extension of what guests are already doing on their vacations, showing off their trip using social networks like Facebook, Twitter and Instagram, Marco Fanton, the social media director for the hotel, told Time.
"We merge the real and virtual worlds to create a totally new experience," reads the hotel web site. "Something never seen before.
"We connect the hotel and everyone in it to their own social community where they can meet, interact, have fun, compete, experience, flirt, tweet, and much, much more," the web site continues.
