A luxury hotel in New York City is offering a plastic surgery recovery package, though it isn't an option listed in the brochure, according to ABC.
The Pierre, a five-star hotel located across the street from Central Park, has a side entrance that leads to service elevators that guests take in lieu of the regular elevators available to guests, complete with attendants to push the buttons.
The reason for the service downgrade is for subtlety of the entrance, used by those returning from surgical procedures under Dr. Robert Grant, the chief of plastic surgery for the Divisions of Plastic Surgery at New York Presbyterian Hospital/Weill Cornell Medical Center. Many of his patients use the hotel as a location for their recovery.
"The people who supposedly hadn't gotten any work done, they were saying, 'Anyway, if you get work done you should go to Dr. So-and-so and you should book a hotel for 10 days,'" Ali Wentworth, a recent patient, told ABC. "And I said 'Well what hotel?'
"And they said, 'Well, there's a back exit at The Pierre,'" she continued.
A partnership exists between Dr. Grant and The Pierre. To take advantage of the service, though, one just has to know about it, as it isn't listed anywhere. The package includes a car service to take you from the location of the procedure to the hotel, a private escort to your room, pillows, towels and extra ice, in-room manicures and pedicures, as well as hair care. There is also a masseuse available on request, as well as any other hotel service you want.
Grant will help patients find rooms that work to best suit their needs, such as the Escoffier Suite, which is only steps from the door that goes to the private entrance, making it ideal for patients.
A nutritionist and stylist also come with the luxury package. They are Brooke Alpert and Jackie Stafford, who are known is some circles as "the dream team."
"After surgery I have to make sure they're eating the best way they can so they heal faster and get optimal results," Alpert, the founder of B Nutritious, said. "Then on top of that I have to make sure they have access to all healthy foods because if the hotel or wherever they're staying doesn't have healthy food they're not going to maintain their weight loss."
Booking this hotel ensures that in addition to luxury from the beginning to the end of the surgical process, patients also have practical help in the medical and health aspects of their recovery.
