Avril Lavigne is dead. At least that's what the Internet is saying. However the "Here's to Never Growing Up" singer didn't die. She's just the victim of a Internet death hoax. Avril Lavigne is just fine.
A report surfaced this week saying that Lavigne died in a snowboarding accident. The report by Global Associated News reads, "The singer/songwriter & novice snowboarder was vacationing at the Whistler Blackcomb ski resort located 125 km north of Vancouver, in British Columbia, Canada with family and friends. Witnesses indicate that Avril Lavigne lost control of her snowboard and struck a tree at a high rate of speed.
Avril Lavigne was air lifted by ski patrol teams to a local hospital, however, it is believed that the musician died instantly from the impact of the crash. She was wearing a helmet at the time of the accident and drugs and alcohol do not appear to have played any part in her death."
Since there are so many details, it may be easy to believe but the report is false. Global Associated News creates fake stories through a generator. A fineprint note at the bottom of the page reads, "FAKE... THIS STORY IS 100% FAKE! this is an entertainment website, and this is a totally fake article based on zero truth and is a complete work of fiction for entertainment purposes! this story was dynamically generated using a generic 'template' and is not factual. Any reference to specific individuals has been 100% fabricated by web site visitors who have created fake stories by entering a name into a blank 'non-specific' template for the purpose of entertainment."
Lavigne isn't dead. She recently revealed the cover for her fifth self-titled album on Instagram. Earlier this summer she married Chad Kroeger.
Lavigne is just fine. Yet fans of the singer who came across the report took to Twitter to question and mourn the loss. Some examples of tweets include:
"Waking up and reading Avril died. I know it's a romour but i'm still afraid... Avril please tweet you're not deadth. Please? @AvrilLavigne ?"
"I can't believe it...I won't believe it. My girl can't be dead. She is too young, she is too pure to die. @avrillavigne tell us you're alive"
"Why is everybody saying: Avril Lavigne is dead?
Lavigne hasn't tweeted about the fake death report, which may have some fans even more concerned, but don't worry. She's alive and well.
