JetBlue Launches Door-to-Door Luggage Delivery Service

Don't want to wait at the baggage claim after your flight? If you're flying with JetBlue, you might not have to. The airline had launched a baggage delivery service that will allow your luggage to be sent directly home or to a hotel.

As part of its new Bags VIP concierge service, JetBlue will hand deliver checks luggage to the passenger's final destination within a 40-mile radius of the airport. Promotional pricing for the special service starts at $25 for one bag and $40 for up to 10 bags, Malay Mail reports.

A flyer can choose to have their bags delivered up to one hour before departure. When the luggage is brought to the airport, it will be identified with a VIP tag and it will be delivered by a JetBlue representative within four hours of arrival.

This door-to-door delivery service comes as industry experts believe that airlines will start to charge for carry-on bags in an effort to try to turn passengers away from packing too much and to reduce fuel costs.

JetBlue isn't the only airline that does delivery service. American Airlines also launched a similar service last year. There are also outside luggage delivery companies like Luggage Free, Carry My Luggage and First Luggage, which help passengers traveling with large equipment and precious cargo. There are even companies like Garde Robe and Vault Couture which will store, pack and deliver luggage.

The VIP delivery service on JetBlue is just the latest move by the low-cost airline to try to rebrand itself as a premium carrier for business travelers. The airline also recently introduced lie-flat seating with massage features and private suites that are able to be closed off. This new seating will be on transcontinental flights between New York, Los Angeles and San Francisco starting next year.
