'Sandlot' Actor Arrested: Tom Guiry Gets Drunk & Headbutts Cop at Houston Airport

You're killing me, Smalls! "Sandlot" actor Tom Guiry, who is known as Smalls in the film, was arrested at an airport over the weekend for engaging in drunk behavior and attacking a police officer.

According to TMZ, Guiry was at Bush Intercontinental Airport in Houston during the weekend when a United Airlines employee determined that he was too drunk to fly. The airport employee contacted the airport police. The police officer approached Guiry and gave him two options. He could either be arrested for public intoxication or go to the drunk tank to sober up.

Guiry didn't like either of those options and in his drunken stupor, he became belligerent and verbally abusive. He threatened the officer and then allegedly tried to kick the officer in the face and then headbutted him.

"At that point, he [Guiry] gets agitated and makes repeated threats against the sergeant," police spokesman Victor Senties said.

The officer quickly took Guiry down and handcuffed him. He was booked for felony assault on a police officer. According to TMZ, the police officer only suffered minor injuries. "He's fine but he did suffer a laceration to the head,"Senties said.

Guiry was able to post the $5,000 bail and was released.

It is not clear what the New Jersey native was doing in Houston or why he was so intoxicated. His last acting credit is for a role on CBS' "Elementary." He is also known for his roles in Mystic River, Black Hawk Down, Tigerland and he appeared on several episodes of The Black Donnelly's. Guiry's people have not released a comment on the incident.

This isn't the first time an actor was belligerent at an airport. In January, "Twilight" actor Bronson Pelletier was so drunk that he relieved himself right in the middle of the terminal at LAX. He was charged with public intoxication.
