A U.S. Airways flight to Barcelona, Spain had to turn back to Philadelphia International Airport due to a drunk passenger that became unruly on board.
U.S. Airways Flight 742 left at 7:51pm and had to return by 9:47 p.m. because a drunk man became out of control. He was so wild that passengers had to restrain him, NBC reports.
Some passengers took to Twitter to explain the situation. One said the man was threatening flight attendants.
"U.S.Air #742 to Barcelona diverted back to Philly due to drunken passenger threatening lives of airline employees in flight. Vaca on hold!" Brenda Pfahnl wrote.
The man, who has not been identified, was taken into custody when the flight landed. Despite the threats, no one was hurt in the incident.
The flight was supposed to take off again at 1:15 a.m. on Thursday morning, but it couldn't leave due to a mechanical problem. Once the problem was solved, the hundreds of passengers on the flight still couldn't leave because it was too late for the crew on board. They weren't allowed to fly due to the amount of time they had been on the clock.
The flight has since left.
However the flight that returned caused issues for other planes. Two other planes were delayed amidst the chaos. This wasn't the only incident at Philadelphia International Airport on Wednesday.
Another U.S. Airways flight from Shannon, Ireland, had to land at the Pennsylvania airport after a false bomb threat was called in to the airport by an unidentified male according to police.
The plane had to land in an isolated part of the airport. The 171 passenger and eight crew members on board had to be escorted off the plane and were taken to a secure area to be screened and interviewed.
Nothing suspicious was found.
