Lumosity Brain: Game That Improves Neurological Function Comes to iPad and iPhone (VIDEO)

Lumosity is a web-based brain training game developed by a neuroscience research company that has achieved popularity on the Internet, but it's now available on the iPad and iPhone as a mobile app, according to PC Mag.

The game is designed to give the brain a short, stimulating workout on a daily basis. Its aim is to increase cognitive abilities and attention, though it's also meant to be fun.

The game includes various recommended exercises that take only five to 10 minutes to complete. The majority of the games could be described as brainteasers. Among them are games that have you follow a single bird, ignoring the surrounding flock, and predict the course of a pinball that is ricocheting off of randomly placed bumpers.

When users register with the game, they will be asked to provide answers to various questions, such as which games are best, and the level of difficulty. The game also includes statistics that allow users to see their progress, and, in turn, how the brain is doing.

"Lumosity is like a gym for your brain, and to ensure that our users get the most benefit from the program, we've created a mobile experience that makes it convenient and fun to work out your brain from anywhere and at any time," Kunal Sarkar, the CEO of Lumosity, said. "We're committed to encouraging healthy habit formation and lifelong brain health, and mobile brain training is integral in helping us reach that goal."

The mobile app is easy to use, with simple graphics that usually include vector art. The game can be downloaded for free, though that will only allow limited access. With purchase of the full app, users have access to almost 50 games. There are also additional tracking options that let users follow their statistical progress.

Full membership to the mobile app costs $79.99 per year and includes web access.
