Zakarian's restaurant is on ship-Ocean Blue eatery. He will personally present a special tasting menu on ship and allow passengers on the trip to have the chance to take a photo with him. The exclusive dining experience is an extra charge.
"Zakarian created the seafood-focused Ocean Blue for the ship as well as the adjacent, crustacean-serving The Raw Bar and a more casual dining option called The Waterfront," reported USA Today.
His restaurants on land include The Lambs Club and The National in New York City and The Water Club at Borgata in Atlantic City. He also regularly appears on The Food Network.
The Norwegian Breakaway arrived in New York in May after a trip across the Atlantic from Europe. It is one of the biggest ships ever built and to welcome the shop into NYC there has been a host of activities.
USA Today reported that Radio City Music Hall's Rockettes will be the godmothers for the ship that can fit up to 4,028 people. The party also included an appearance by NYC mayor Michael Bloomberg.
"This state-of-the-art ship will feature the best of what the current fleet has to offer such as the exclusive Haven, a relaxing pampering spa and a plethora of dining options," says Norwegian Cruise Lines website about the Breakaway. "Guests will enjoy all the flexibility that Freestyle Cruising has to offer while sailing to the picturesque island of Bermuda. From award winning cuisine, family fun and daily entertainment as well as a wonderful staff and crew the Norwegian Breakaway is sure to be a destination all on its own."
The ship will be based around New York year round making it the largest ship to be based in the city. To commemorate its base there are a number of NYC related attractions on board including Broadway shows such as Rock of Ages and restaurants by New York chefs such as Geoffrey Zakarian, reported USA Today.
