Pelican Island, New Jersey residents don't want Snooki and JWoww to film their "Jersey Shore" spinoff show in the area. Now Jwoww and Snooki have responded to the haters.
Residents of Pelican Island, a small Jersey Shore community outside of Seaside Heights, are displaced and still recovering after Hurricane Sandy and the last thing they want is the MTV show "Snooki & JWoww" to invade the area as they said it will bring traffic and unwanted visitors to the area, which will disrupt the rebuilding process.
More than 40 residents gathered at a Pelican Island Property Owners Association meeting on Sunday to protest Snooki and JWoww from coming to the island.
Attorney Ron Gasirowski represents 12 families who live in the neighborhood where the home that MTV is interested in using for the show. He will look into whether or not the home can be used.
"This is in a residential zone and use of it is very restrictive," Gasirowski said."They didn't disclose to anyone what they were doing there. People first became aware of this when they started to see trucks and equipment being delivered to the site."
MTV may have to file for a permit to use the particular home, but that doesn't mean that they'll get to use it. City Council president James Byrnes is against them filming, saying it will be too much for the town to handle at this time.
"For her to bring her family and stay there is a great thing," he said. "But the timing's not right, and the commotion of just the show, what the show causes, is outrageous."
Jwoww and Snookie have responded to the protests. JWoww took to Twitter to say, "Laughing so hard over these reports @snooki ... Who would've thought 2 girls can piss so many people off #embracethehaters."
Snooki posted a message on Instagram saying, "Unvelievable how adults are trying to ban my son, fiancé and I from enjoying our summer at the shore. Grow up, get over yourself and move on. This is not how we should be treating one another. Absolutely sick and very sad. I pray for you. There's much bigger things to worry about in life than trying to ban my family from your neighborhood."
