Hotels are supposed to be family friendly, but a Illinois hotel security guard recently got caught carrying out some bad behavior. The guard is being accused of drinking on the job and watching pornography in full view of anyone, including kids.
A woman, identified as Tiffany, contacted News 4 to share picture of a security guard watching porn at the Mount Vernon Holiday Inn. The woman claims the hotel management didn't do anything about the issue. The woman worked at the hotel and has since quit and moved on to a new job.
"He's a pervert, a bad pervert," Tiffany told News 4. When asked how long he would watch the porn, Tiffany said, "All night, all week."
Tiffany used to work at the front desk and says that children noticed the guard engaging in the crude behavior. She also says the man verbally and sexually harassed her and her coworkers.
"He has smacked me in the butt, on the ribs, in the arm," she claims.
A delivery driver told police that the guard also gets drunk at work."He drinks on the job all the time," Tiffany said.
These issues were brought up to the hotel management but nothing was done at the time. When News 4 contacted the Holiday Inn, the manager didn't respond, but the parents company says they take these issues very seriously and will follow up on the claims, but the specific hotel is privately owned.
"IHG (InterContinental Hotels Group), owner of the Holiday Inn® brand, holds the safety, comfort and well-being of all guests and employees as our top priority and concern. We take allegations of this nature very seriously and are following up as appropriate. The Holiday Inn Mount Vernon, IL is a franchised hotel, which is independently owned and operated. IHG does not control the day-to-day operation of this hotel, nor does it employ anyone there. All further questions should be directed to the Holiday Inn Mount Vernon."
"I'm very upset, very angry." Tiffany said. She doesn't want guests or other employees to have to put up with the man's behavior. "This needs to be stopped to make this a better family oriented hotel," she said.
