Representatives for Lea Michele, 26, one of the stars of "Glee," have said that the news of the death of her boyfriend, co-star Cory Monteith, is "devastating" to the actress, according to ABC News.
Michele had been dating Monteith for over a year and hasn't yet released any statement about his death. The only comment she has made was to ask for privacy through her representatives.
"We ask that everyone kindly respect Lea's privacy during this devastating time," the representative told ABC.
In March, Monteith entered rehab for treatment for substance abuse. Michele released a statement of support at the time, continuing to support him throughout his stay in rehab.
"I love and support Cory and will stand by him through this," she said in the statement, which was made to People Weekly. "I am grateful and proud that he made this decision."
The couple met in 2009 when they began co-starring on "Glee." They seemed to hit it off right away and rumors of a relationship began in 2010. They officially began a romantic relationship in 2012 after Michele ended a relationship with Broadway actor Theo Stockman.
In the January 2013 issue of Marie Claire, Michele discussed her relationship with Monteith.
"I don't even remember a time when [Cory] wasn't my boyfriend," she said. "He makes me feel like I can do anything."
Monteith played Finn Hudson on the hit television show, a love interest of Michele's character, Rachel Berry. The on-screen couple were a fan favorite, and had been given the nickname "Finchel."
There hasn't been any information on how the show will deal with the loss of one of its main cast members.
Monteith was found dead in his hotel room in Vancouver on Saturday at the age of 31. The cause of death is still unknown. An autopsy will be conducted on Monday.
