Solange Knowles and sister, Beyonce, did not attend their father's wedding. Mathew Knowles got married to Gena Charmaine Avery, a former model, last Sunday in Houston, Texas, making Avery Solange and Beyonce's stepmother.
According to TMZ, neither Solange of Beyonce attended their father's wedding. "Unfortunately, Beyonce and Solange had previous engagements which made it impossible for them to attend," Mathew Knowles told TMZ.
Knowles and Avery had been engaged for a year and a half and they married last week, according to Knowles' representative who confirmed it to the Associated Press on Friday.
Avery, who used to be a model, is not a 48-year-old realtor. Beyonce's father, now 61-years-old, led his daughter to fame with the group Destiny's Child. The superstar went on to have a solo career and dropped her father as her manager in 2011. She explained her decision to let him go in the recent HBO confessional film "Life is But a Dream."
Knowles still manages other groups as the head of Music World Entertainment. He particularly deals with several gospel acts such as Grammy-winner Le'Andria Johnson.
Knowles and Beyonce's mother, Tina, got divorced in 2011 after being marries for 31 years. They had two children together, Beyonce and her sister Solange, who is also a singer. Knowles also has a son from a relationship with actress Alexsandra Wright. Word came out about this son after Tina filed for divorce.
Beyonce and Solange, who are both active Twitter users, were quiet on the social media site over the weekend and Solange even said that she was on vacation in Dakar.
Beyonce is married herself, to rapper husband, Jay-Z. They have one child, daughter Blue Ivy and rumors have been swirling that the singer is once again pregnant, but she denies it.
