Crystal Cruises, a luxury cruise company, is planning unique additions to their theme cruises, with new voyages in 2014, including one with a magic theme, and another focusing on micro brewing, according to the Wall Street Journal. In addition, they are planning a trip that celebrates the history of the Roman Empire and the influence it had on art, religion, law, war, social structures, science and architecture.
"The topics may be varied, but all themes satisfy the same intellectual curiosity that distinguish our typical Crystal cruiser," Bret Bullock, the vice president of entertainment for Crystal Cruises, said.
The cruise company is adding a total of six themes to its current Experiences of Discovery program for 2014. There will be 23 trips on the two-ship cruise company, which will host the themed cruises on board the Crystal Symphony and the Crystal Serenity. They will all feature theme-focused trips that provide enrichment that includes hands-on activities, performances, educational presentations and expert instruction, according to the cruise line.
The magic themed cruise, called "Up Close & Magical," will begin sailing on December 11, 2014, in Miami and will include members of Hollywood's elite Magic Castle club, who will perform illusions, as well as providing instructive classes on-board for passengers interested in learning about magic techniques.
The micro-brew-themed cruise will begin sailing on November 5 in New York and will feature beer experts, as well as tasting and cuisine pairings.
The Roman era-themed cruise, called "Gladiators & Empires," will begin sailing on May 18, departing from Venice. It will include visits to famous ruins and renowned museums from the Roman era throughout Italy.
Other new themes include "Extreme Thrill Seekers," "Explorations In Elegance," "Maritime," and "Wine & Food."
Some of the returning themes include "Mind, Body & Spirit," "Film & Theater," "Jazz," and "Ballroom at Sea," which was previously known as "Big Band & Ballroom Dance."
The fares for the themed cruises start at $1,995 per person, based on a double occupancy.
