4th of July Fireworks NYC 2013: Where to Watch and How to Get There

The 37th Annual Macy's 4th of July Fireworks will take place tonight at 9:25 pm. This year's fireworks display will last 25 minutes. Over 40,000 fireworks will be lit off tonight and the night will be full of star-studded performances. There are certain viewing locations that will be prime spots and there are several buses and trains that are available to get there.

Tonight's display is inspired and directed by Grammy-winning artist, Usher. The night will also include performances by Taylor Swift, Nick Cannon, Selena Gomez, Mariah Carey and Tim McGraw. Access to these performances is not open to the public, but the fireworks show and the performances will be broadcasted on NBC starting at 8 p.m. EST.

The 37th Annual Macy's 4th of July Fireworks, which will be one of America's biggest fireworks displays tonight, can be viewed from any area above the Hudson River. The best views will be between 12th Avenue below 59th Street. There are four barges positioned in the Hudson River between 24th street and 42nd Street. For the best spots, head to 12th Avenue in Manhattan by going to one of the following access points on 11th Avenue:

56th-57th Streets

The fireworks cannot be viewed from the East River, Battery Park City, and All Hudson River Piers.

Parking is not available, so it is best to take the Subway to the area. The Subway services will be increased by the NYC Transit before and after the show.

To get to the viewing locations, take the A,C, E, or L train to 14th Street and 8th Avenue, the A,C or E to 34th Street or 42nd Street, the A or C to 23rd Street, the 1,2,3,N,Q,R,S or 7 to 42nd street Times Square, the C or E to 50th Street or the A,C,D or 1 to 59th Street and Columbus Circle. After getting off the train, walk towards 12th Avenue.

If you want to take the bus, the Uptown M11, M10, M20 buses, the downtown M11 and M20 buses or the M14A, M14D, M23, M31, M34, M42 or M57 buses will get you close to the viewing areas.

If you're near the Empire State building, don't forget to take a peak during the last five minutes of the fireworks display for a special show.
