Plans have been finalized for the new Shimao Wonderland InterContinental cave hotel, a five-star hotel designed by the British Architectural firm Atkins, which will actually be built into a cave wall, according to the Huffington Post.
The hotel is currently under construction in an abandoned quarry that had flooded. The quarry is in Tianmenshan Mountain in the Songjiang District of Shanghai, China. There will be 380 rooms built over 19 stories. Two of the floors will be located underwater, with 17 additional rooms integrated into the quarry's cave. The rest of the hotel will be located on the surrounding landscape, which will allow guests to participate in some extreme sports, such as rock climbing and bungee jumping on nearby cliffs.
