It's as if fast-food employees are trying to outdo each other on being gross. The Wendy's frosty licker is the latest employee to get caught engaging in disturbing behavior. The Wendy's photo, like the photo of a Taco Bell employee licking taco shells, has gone viral and the employee is facing to repercussions.
A photo surfaced on the Internet which shows a Wendy's employee bending down under one of the soft serve Frosty machines and letting ice cream stream right into his mouth. The photo was posted to the content-sharing site Reddit on Wednesday and a customer wrote, "I was going to buy a Frosty from Wendy's until I saw the employee do this."
The angle of the photo seems to show that another Wendy's employee took the photo from behind the counter as Reddit users suggested. The Wendy's company says that this was an isolated incident that involved one franchise restaurant. They're not laughing about the matter and the employee will be punished.
"The photo isn't funny to us. The incident was totally inappropriate, and we're taking it very seriously. We've contacted the franchisee who is taking swift action," a Wendy's spokesman told ABC.
The photo appears at a bad time for the company as they're currently promoting the Frosty products specifically for a charity cause. As part of a Father's Day charity drive for the Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption, named after Wendy's founder, the chain is donating 50 cents from the sale of every Frosty product. They also recently introduced a Frosty Waffle Cone.
The fast-food chain the the third-largest fast food hamburger joint in the world. There are more than 6,500 franchise and company restaurants throughout the U.S. and 27 countries.
Last month, Taco Bell took some heat after a photo of an employee licking taco shells went viral. The company claims the photo was taken for a contest and the shells were not sold to customers, but the employee has since been fired.
