Garth Brooks, Toby Keith and other country music stars are set to hold a relief concert to benefit the victims of the deadly tornadoes that occurred in Oklahoma in May.
On Thursday, Keith announced that he is hosting a concert. The Oklahoma Twister Relief Concert will be held at the University of Oklahoma's Gaylord Family-Oklahoma Memorial Stadium in Norman on July 6at 3 p.m. Keith will be joined by Garth Brooks and his wife, Trisha Yearwood. Willie Nelson and Ronnie Dunn will also be performing, the Associated Press reports.
The tickets will be sold for $25 a piece and will go on sale to the public at 10 a.m. Friday, June 21. Tickets can be purchased by visiting Ticketmaster or calling 1-800-745-3000. Organizers say there is an eight ticket limit per customer.
As a native of Moore, Oklahoma, where 24 people, including children, were killed in an EF5 tornado on May 20, Keith wants to hold the concert for his neighbors. Brooks lives in Owasso, Oklahoma. He says he is honored to join Keith and other stars for the benefit concert.
This isn't the only relief concert that is dedicated to Oklahoma tornado victims. Last month, Country music singer and Oklahoma native Blake Shelton, along with his wife Miranda Lambert, Usher, Darius Rucker, Reba, Rascal Flatts and others performed a benefit concert called "Healing in the Heartland." The concert which was broadcasted lived on NBD on May 29th, raised for than $6 Million for the United Way of Central Oklahoma. The organization will distribute funding to agencies helping those affected by the May 20 tornado.
