An airport explosion took place in Atlanta on Tuesday morning causing the airport to be evacuated.
Concourse D of Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport was evacuated agyer a small explosion took place in a maintenance shed around 8:40 a.m. According to airport officials, it was a small electrical explosion near Gate D 21 at a ramp level maintenance shop. Despite the explosion being near the shop, no one was hurt in the incident and there was no fire, CBS reports.
As a precaution, passengers on the northside of Concourse D were evacuated to Concourse E. They were able to return shortly after.
Atlanta Fire Rescue spokeswoman Janet Ward told CBS that power was shut off to parts of the airport. The power was still out in certain parts of Concourse D. Officials are trying to determine what caused the explosion.
Delta Air Lines spokesman Morgan Durrant told CBS that the airline is working with the airport to determine if flights will be impacted. Delta has a handful of gates located in Concourse D. As of 10 a.m., Durrant said they weren't sure if they would have to cancel or delay any flights. Those measures would be done as a last resort.
Passengers who had a flight leaving from Concourse D were advised to not go through security.

In an unrelated incident in Atlanta, authorities reported a bomb threat at a building near the Georgia State Capital in downtown Atlanta.
