Jimmy Nail Dead? Singer/Actor Becomes Victim of Internet Death Hoax

Jimmy Nail is dead. At least that's what the Internet is saying. However the English singer and actor didn't die. He's just the victim of an Internet death hoax. Jimmy Nail is just fine.

A report surfaced this week by Global Associated News, saying that Nail died after falling off a cliff. The report reads "Actor Jimmy Nail died while filming a movie in New Zealand early this morning - June 7, 2013

Preliminary reports from New Zealand Police officials indicate that the actor fell more than 60 feet to his death on the Kauri Cliffs while on-set. Specific details are not yet available.

The accident occurred at approximately 4:30 a.m. (UTC/GMT +12)."

Some might have believed the story, but it isn't real. Global Associated News creates fake stories. A message at the bottom of the site reads, "FAKE... THIS STORY IS 100% FAKE! this is an entertainment website, and this is a totally fake article based on zero truth and is a complete work of fiction for entertainment purposes! this story was dynamically generated using a generic 'template' and is not factual. Any reference to specific individuals has been 100% fabricated by web site visitors who have created fake stories by entering a name into a blank 'non-specific' template for the purpose of entertainment."

Jimmy Nail isn't dead, but some fans who got word of the rumor took to Twitter to mourn and question the loss. Some examples of tweets include:

"Jimmy nail is dead???"

"Jimmy Nail is dead fell 60ft off a cliff in New Zealand "

"Has jimmy nail died ?????????"

"Can't believe jimmy nail has died. What a shock"

Rest easy fans. Nail is fine. He isn't the first celebrity to become the victim of a death hoax. Death hoaxes have become a trend over the past few years.

Some other celebrities who became victims of a death hoax in recent months include actor, Tom Cruise, "The Big Bang Theory actor Jim Parsons, actress Megan Fox, wrestler John Cena, singer Bruno Mars, actor Vin Diesel, musician Skrillex, Rapper Lil Wayne, Actor Vince Vaughn, Tom Kenny, the voice behind SpongeBob Squarepants, country singer Taylor Swift, legendary actor Morgan Freeman, Comedian Bill Cosby, Alfonso Ribeiro aka Carlton from the Fresh Prince, and Bill Nye the Science Guy. All of these celebrities are just fine
