Many people want to do something dramatic, even vengeful, after a bad break-up, especially if they are the one wronged, and one woman actually did, posting her break-up letter on Reddit on Friday. The letter has gone viral and amassed more than ½ million views.
The letter is polite, while informing her soon-to-be ex-boyfriend that she found message between him and another woman.
"Guess who left his Facebook open on the computer and got a message from Kelsi?" the writer asks. "Yeah! You!"
She then tells the boyfriend that she was kind enough to pack his things, leaving him clues as to their location.
"Your clothes are where we first met," the letter reads. "Your video games are where we first kissed."
The piece de resistance is towards the end, when the writer tells her boyfriend that "everything else...is at Kelsi's house!"
She closes by telling him she didn't break any of his belongings.
"While I didn't break or damage anything, I can't guarantee anybody else won't find it!" she ends. "Happy Hunting!"
This is not the first creative break-up letter to end up on the Internet. A Yahoo! Blog has more break-ups that provide entertainment for the reader, even if they provide pain (or catharsis) for the writer.
The letters on the blog are mostly from men. Among them was a man who went by OompaLoompa, and was called a "world class tool," by Gawker, in what the web-site called the "most annoying online dating break-up e-mail ever."
The most elaborate public break-up by humiliation came from a woman named Emily, who purchased a billboard to break-up with her husband after finding out he cheated on her. The picture of the billboard went viral.
"Hi Steven," it reads. "Do I have your attention now?
"I know all about her, you dirty, sneaky, immoral, unfaithful, poorly endowed slimeball," it continued. "Everything's caught on tape.
"P.S. I paid for this billboard from OUR joint bank account," it finished.
