Want to go to the happiest place on earth? Make sure your bank account is full. Entrance to Walt Disney World can cost over $100 as the park just hiked its prices.
Disney World is now one of the most expensive theme parks to visit as a single-day, single-park admission to the Magic Kingdom increased by $6 to $95. With tax, the price comes out to $101.18 for adults. Kids ages 3-9 pay $89 or $94.79 with tax. The new prices go into effect on Sunday, the Orlando Sentinel reports.
This $6 increase makes the Magic Kingdom the most expensive Disney theme park. Those who want to spend a day at Disney's other parks, Epcot, Hollywood Studios and Animal Kingdom, will have to pay a slightly lower price of $90 while kids ages 3-9 pay $84.
This is the first time Disney has introduced two different single-day admission for its Florida parks.
Multi-day tickets prices have also increased by 1 to 15 percent. A four-day adult ticket, which ran $256 recently, will now cost $279 - plus tax. Guests can pay an additional $59 for the Park Hopper addition.
"Like any business, we evaluate and adjust our pricing based on a variety of factors," Disney spokesman Bryan Malenius told the Orlando Sentinel. "A ticket to our theme parks represents a great value, particularly when you look at the breadth and quality of attractions and entertainment we offer and the special moments guests experience with our cast."
This increase comes just two weeks after Universal Studios increased their park prices. Universal Orlando now charges $92 for a one-day, one-park ticket, which is a 3.4 percent increase from the previous $89 price, Orlando Sentinel reports.
Single-day ticket prices for admission to both Universal Studios Florida and Universal's Islands of Adventure also rose. The tickets now cost $128, up 3.2 percent from $124.
"We set our prices to reflect the value of the entertainment experience we offer," Universal spokesman Tom Schroder told the Orlando Sentinel.
