Emirates airlines has renovated in lounge for first class and business passengers in Charles de Gaulle airport in Paris, according to a press release. Platinum and Gold members of Emirates Skywards, the airline's frequent flyer program, also have access to the new lounge.
It is the first lounge to be redone with the airlines new interior design that was unveiled within Emirates' Concourse A Lounges in Dubai earlier this year.
"The refurbishment of this lounge is a further marker of our commitment to offering our premium class customers the best possible passenger journey with Emirates," Mohammed Mattar, the divisional senior vice president of airport services, said. "Selecting our lounge in Paris as the first destination to receive the new look refurbishment was an easy choice."
The refurbishment cost approximately $4.75 million, and has also relocated the lounge to a more central location. It is now located between Terminal 2A and 2C, which offers customers easier access as well as an unobstructed view of the tarmac. It is a great location for passengers to watch planes take off and land.
The lounge has been expanded to a 156-passenger capacity as well.
"Our capacity to Paris has increased significantly this year, with the installment of a second daily A380 and our commitment to the city has also grown, with our recent sponsorship of the French Open Tennis and renewal of our sponsorship with Paris Saint Germain for a further five years," Mattar said.
The opening of the new lounge was celebrated with a ribbon cutting ceremony that was attended by Mattar and Thierry Aucoc, the Emirates' country manager for France.
Emirates have plans to refurbish the remaining 35 lounges in their network over the next 18 to 24 months with a phased plan.
The airline currently operates 32 weekly flights to France, including 20 weekly flights to Charles de Gaulle, a daily flight to Nice and a five times a week service to Lyon.
