A Simpson's theme park is coming to Orlando's Universal studios. The Huffington Post reported that the venue will be called "Springfield" and it will be open sometime this summer. Included at the park are the iconic, Duffs beer at Moe's Tavern and Krusty Burgers. Lard Lad's donuts is also just down the street.
There will also be a Lugi's pizza and Frying Dutchman.
"This will be a must-see experience for Simpsons fans all over the world," said Mark Woodbury, president of Universal Creative in a release. "For the first time ever, they're going to be able to enter a world that they've only seen on television - and we're really excited to bring that world to life."
The park will revolve around a Simpson's ride that has been an attraction at Universal Studios since 2008. There will also be a new ride, themed around the shows characters Kang and Kodo who are aliens. The ride will be caked Kang & Kodos Twirl & Hurl.
"Fans will literally be able to live and breathe Springfield as they visit the statue of Jebediah, enjoy a Krusty Burger, and have a seat at Moe's Tavern, which are just a few of the great experiences awaiting at Universal," said Jeffrey Godsick, president of Fox Consumer Products to Fox News.
According to The Daily Telegraph Universal said about the new Simpson's attraction, "For the first time ever - anywhere - fans will be able to walk down Fast Food Boulevard and visit the places that helped Springfield stake its claim as 'Shelbyville by the Sea'"
This isn't the first time that Universal Studios had had rides around film and TV. "The Wizarding World of Harry Potter" opened up at Universal Islands of Adventure theme park in Orlando in 2010 and was very successful.
The Orlando Sentinel reported that Universal has profited from the endeavor which includes a collection of shops and restaurants featured in the Harry Potter books and movies.
