Princess Cruises is Naming Their Newest Ship In a Ceremony Featuring Singer Natasha Bedingfield

Princess Cruises will be hosting a naming ceremony to launch their newest ship, the Royal Princess, where singer Natasha Bedingfield will perform at the ceremony on June 13, according to BreakingTravelNews.com.

The singer will be making a special appearance at the event, where Her Royal Highness the Duchess of Cambridge, Kate Middleton, will officially name the ship.

"We're excited to have Natasha Bedingfield lend her voice to this special occasion," Jan Swartz, the executive vice president of Princess Cruises, said. "Her music will add a wonderful contemporary touch to the time-honored elements of the traditional naming ceremony."

The ceremony will also feature British ship-naming traditions, including a blessing of the vessel and a performance by the Band of Her Majesty's Royal Marines Portsmouth and the pipers of the Irish Guards. Then the Duchess of Cambridge will break a symbolic champagne bottle on the bow of the ship.

It will begin a week of inaugural celebrations to welcome to vessel into service. The Royal Princess will arrive at the Ocean Terminal in Southampton on Friday, June 7, and will depart on her maiden voyage on June 16. The ship will then sail Grand Mediterranean cruises throughout the summer, followed by Eastern Caribbean cruises beginning in the fall.

There is still limited availability for passengers to book a cruise for the ship's maiden season.

The Royal Princess is a new-generation ship that holds 3,600 passengers. The ship includes special features such as an expanded atrium, an over-water SeaWalk, a top-deck glass-bottomed walkway that extends 28 feet beyond the edge of the ship, poolside cabanas that appear to be floating on water and the largest pastry shop at sea.

Natasha Bedingfield is a Grammy-nominated singer for her album "Unwritten. She has many hit songs, including "Unwritten," "Pocketful of Sunshine," "Love Like This," and "These Words."
