bmi regional Airline Has Launched Six New International Routes from Birmingham and Bristol

bmi regional airline has launched six new international routes from Birmingham Airport and Bristol Airport.

"Today we are very proud to launch six new routes from Birmingham and Bristol to Gothenburg, Lyon, Toulouse, Hannover, Munich and Milan," Cathal O'Connell, the CEO of bmi, said. "bmi regional has already created over 100 new jobs with these new routes in the South West and the Midlands.

"These routes are an indication of our commitment to U.K. regions and a significant investment in Bristol and Birmingham," she continued. "We expect to continue to significantly increase employment and create a better network for both leisure and business travelers from the Midlands."

The fares for the new routes will start at about $88, which is a reduction in cost and travel time for business and leisure travelers who are interested in traveling to popular European destinations. Due to the increase in congestion at the London airports, bmi regional hopes to provide an alternative by offering the new flights from Bristol and Birmingham for passengers who find a benefit in airports that are less crowded, allowing for a faster boarding process, as well as a choice of shopping and dining facilities.

"The launch of these six routes is a continuation of bmi regional's promise to serve key economic and tourism hubs across Europe," O'Connell said. "These new routes are incremental to the four new routes rolled out since bmi regional established itself as an independent airline in 2012."

The routes O'Connell is referring to are Bristol to Aberdeen, Hamburg, Frankfurt and Manchester to Antwerp.

"We're delighted to welcome bmi regional to Birmingham Airport," Paul Kehoe, the CEO of Birmingham Airport, said. "Not only will the new flights provide links to some currently un-served European markets from the Midlands, its arrival will also create new jobs and open up better trade links between Birmingham, France, Sweden and Denmark.

"bmi regional's arrival also gives a great choice of European city break locations to explore," Kehoe added.

The Airbus General Manager and Human Resources Director, Mark Stewart, agreed.

"These new services will be welcomed by our employees, especially the direct route to Munich, which will give us much better access to our colleagues in EADS," Stewart said. "Coming on top of the recently announced new route from Bristol to Hamburg, it will certainly help reduce travel time and increase business efficiency while allowing our employees to reach their destination quicker, whilst continuing to support out local airport."
